The world of codecs is ever-changing with encoding technologies becoming standards nearly every year.
The latest codec to reach the standardization stage as defined by MPEG is VVC/H.266 which was co-developed by ITU-T, ISO/IEC, and Fraunhofer HHI.
In this discussion, Bitmovin is joined by our in-house codec expert and Encoding Team Lead, Christian Feldman, and one of the primary researchers on VVC, Adam Więckowski, from Fraunhofer HHI. They’ll discuss the general history of VVC, its latest developments, experiments, and what the industry can expect from the Versatile Video Coding standard.
