Note: Since this post was originally published, the bitdash player has been renamed as the Bitmovin Adaptive Streaming Player. You can sign up for a free account and use the full version of the Bitmovin Player which includes full DRM support, ad server integration, MPEG-DASH and HLS and much more.

In October 2014, Bitmovin launched it’s HTML5 Adaptive Streaming Player under the name “bitdash”. The bitdash player enabled MPEG-DASH (and has since been updated to support HLS) playback on any web browser using HTML5 as well as Flash, depending on the browser and version, and even on mobile platforms. The software automatically detects the browser conditions and uses the best player setup for each individual user, so as a publisher, you don’t need to worry about compatibility at all.
Another unique advantage of bitdash over other DASH-players is that bitdash is built specifically for stability and performance. It leads the market in start up speeds and efficiency and performance of its patented adaption logic which translates into a smoother, higher quality end user experience.
Feel free to download a free version and give it a try! And stay tuned, we will release more information about bitdash – the HTML5/Flash MPEG-DASH player – in the following days!

Features & Capability

At IBC, Bitmovin took the opportunity and released a preview version to selected industry partners and customers, and gained extremely positive feedback as well as new feature requests. Since then, we have already integrated most of them into the product, making it compatible to even more DASH content from various encoders and streaming servers.

Bitmovin treats customer feature requests as a high priority when planning future updates.
