Bitmovin and VNPT deliver the beautiful game in the highest quality to football fans.

Game on
The FIFA World Cup is one of the world’s most prestigious and widely watched sporting tournaments, attracting billions of viewers. The FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar was no different and delivered record-breaking TV audience numbers across multiple markets worldwide. Increased connectivity and the continued growth of video streaming have arguably underpinned World Cup’s growth in audience numbers, empowering football fans to enjoy high-quality streams of their favorite matches from any device, regardless of bandwidth constraints.
VNPT (Vietnam Post and Telecoms) is one of Vietnam’s largest telecommunication providers servicing millions of monthly active users. VNPT acquired the rights to broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Vietnam via its MyTV television service. To ensure its users could stream the World Cup in low latency at the highest quality imaginable, it chose to work with Bitmovin and Vietcoms to deploy a cross-platform playback solution that was able to track and monitor their content in real-time with Btimovin’s Analytics, hosted within the Google & AWS Clouds.
From the pitch to the screen in zero seconds.
VNPT knew it needed to work with proven innovators in the media and entertainment technology space to ensure it could deliver streams of unrivaled quality to its audiences. It chose Bitmovin’s Playback, which bundles Stream Lab: its automated testing solution, its industry-leading Player and Analytics. The combined solutions empower users to test, deploy and optimize playback, guaranteeing the highest-quality viewing experience across the broadest range of devices. Bitmovin Playback was integrated by Vietcoms, allowing for near-zero latency between the pitch, mobile devices, and Connected TVs.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong, CTO of MyTV at VNPT said: “It’s essential for us to provide an optimized fan experience online. Sharing the moment between the television and digital audience is part of that. Low Latency playback is something we’ve experienced now and will likely use for all sporting events. It has been a huge success!
The final score
“The standard for video streaming in a live sports environment is high, and the stakes are even higher for a tournament like the FIFA World Cup,” said Stefan Lederer, CEO and Co-Founder of Bitmovin. “Working with VNPT and Vietcoms to deliver the beautiful game to football fans across Vietnam in the highest quality and almost zero latency has been a huge honor. We look forward to building on this fantastic partnership.”
