Bitmovin Launches Video Streaming Solutions on AWS

Vienna – Austria, September 22, 2022 – Bitmovin today announced the launch of Bitmovin Playback and its Live Event Encoder on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, the company announced the availability of its encoding Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product in AWS Marketplace, featuring self-service purchasing and the added convenience of billing through the customer’s AWS account

Bitmovin’s solutions compromise of:

Live Event Encoding: Bitmovin’s Live Event Encoder delivers high-quality streams optimizing Live to video on demand (VOD) workflows, ensuring live streams are available for on-demand playback immediately after the stream has ended. A key differentiator of Bitmovin’s Live Event Encoder is that it provides developers and live event operations teams with a compelling user experience, a web-based interface to manage live streams from any device and any location, and a comprehensive API for deep application integrations. It offers users advanced control and monitoring tools and notification alerts to help pinpoint errors in real-time.

VOD Encoder: Bitmovin’s VOD Encoder combines massively distributed processing and content-aware encoding that allows content providers to deliver high-quality video to audiences. Bitmovin’s VOD Encoder supports file-based transcoding and packaging in a single, easy-to-use product. It also provides advanced multi-codec support including AV1, VP9, HEVC, H.264, and more support for industry-standard encryption and studio-grade forensic watermarking to cost-effectively and securely deliver video at resolutions up to 8K Ultra-High Definition (UHD). It automatically scales to optimize for any use case to maximize operational efficiency and return on investment (ROI).

Playback: Playback brings together Bitmovin’s player, analytics and stream lab products. Playback embeds video playback into mobile, web and big screen applications with automated device testing and optimisations to deliver high-quality viewing experiences. Once deployed, Playback’s integrated video analytics assess the viewing experience and allows streaming services to optimize playback based on real-world conditions. Diagnosing problems and pushing new configurations (e.g. Digital Rights Management) to viewers is made quicker and more efficient as playback issues and errors are surfaced to developers with automated testing allowing changes to be validated before deployment.

“Streaming video has become ubiquitous for traditional media and entertainment companies and new market entrants that are starting to make video central to their business strategy,” said Stefan Lederer, Co-Founder and CEO of Bitmovin. “By offering our video streaming solutions on AWS, we have made it even easier for customers to incorporate high-quality video into their core business more efficiently.”

By offering its encoding SaaS in AWS Marketplace, Bitmovin provides customers with a self-service purchasing option with the added convenience of billing through the customer’s AWS account. AWS Marketplace is a digital catalog with thousands of software listings from independent software vendors that make it easy to find, test, buy, and deploy software that runs on AWS.  AWS Marketplace visitors can quickly launch preconfigured software and pay only for what they use, by the hour or month.

Prospective customers can try Bitmovin’s solutions with no up-front cost or obligation simply by signing up for a 30-day free trial.
