Bitmovin joins Grass Valley Media Alliance to deliver a new era in live video streaming.

Bitmovin, the category leader in video streaming infrastructure, announces its Live Event Encoder’s first integration with Grass Valley’s Agile Media Processing Platform.

Vienna-Austria, September 1, 2022Bitmovin, a leading provider of video streaming infrastructure, announced today it joined the GV Media Alliance, Grass Valley’s partner program. Becoming a member of the GV Media Alliance means Bitmovin can partner with qualified technology companies to help bring fully tested, integrated, cloud-based solutions to media organizations. In joining the partnership program, Bitmovin has integrated its Live Event Encoder with Grass Valley’s Agile Media Processing Platform (AMPP), the world’s most agile production and distribution platform empowering media organizations to deliver the highest quality streams for live events.

“Integrating technology from different vendors consumes a lot of time and resources for our customers. We’re taking that problem away. As part of working together around AMPP’s open platform, members of the Grass Valley Media Alliance have already done the integration validation to provide high-performance solutions that solve our customers’ business and technical challenges,” said Chris Merrill, Director Strategic Marketing at Grass Valley. “Bitmovin is a proven innovator in video streaming and a welcome addition to the Alliance.”

Customers using AMPP for live events can now route the transmission outputs into the Bitmovin Live Event Encoder for delivery to viewers via their CDN. They can then embed the Bitmovin Player for a high-quality end-to-end experience with performance measured by Bitmovin Analytics. The cloud-agnostic approach of both AMPP and Bitmovin Live Event Encoder allows customers to run seamlessly in any cloud environment. The integration also delivers rapid deployment times, allowing customers to scale and reducing the cost of ownership for the entire solution, from production to delivery.

Grass Valley’s AMPP outputs RTMP protocol or Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) to the Bitmovin Live Event Encoder, which delivers content in HLS, DASH or CMAF in SD, HD or 4K to digital platforms. With a rich array of API commands and operator dashboards, customers can manage content from multiple devices and locations for both products in a web browser while delivering content of the highest possible quality.

“Grass Valley is renowned for its world-class solutions for live production. The opportunity to partner with them is hugely exciting as Bitmovin sets its sights on optimizing viewing experiences for live events,” said Brandon Zupancic, Head of Alliances at Bitmovin. “The combination of AMPP and the Bitmovin Live Encoder results in a powerful, reliable and flexible solution that reduces costs, paving the way for a new era of live event streaming experiences.”

As part of the partnership, Bitmovin’s Live Event Encoder will be showcased at IBC 2022 on Grass Valley’s Stand 9-A01 and Bitmovin’s Stand 5-C68. Grass Valley and Bitmovin personnel will be on hand to answer any questions attendees may have.
