Bitmovin Developer Meetup

We are excited to announce that Bitmovin will be sponsoring and hosting the OpenTechTable Developer Meetup on the 29th of September

The OpenTechTable Developer Meetup is a chance for developers to share ideas, discuss challenges and spend an evening “talking shop” with other developers over a few drinks.

Where and When?

Bimovin Office
Schleppe Platz 7, 3rd floor.
SEP 29th 2016, 6.00 p.m.

What’s on the Program?

Bitmovin, from the University to a Successful Startup

Presented by Stefan Lederer, CEO and Co-Founder Bitmovin
Stefan was part of the team that co-created the MPEG-DASH standard, which is a technology that was quickly adopted by Netflix and Youtube and has revolutionized the way video is consumed online. As well as being world renown expert in adaptive streaming, he is also one of Austria’s most successful entrepreneurs.
This presentation is an insight into how Stefan and his team have taken Bitmovin from a university project to global brand name attracting millions of dollars in investment, and working with some of the largest companies in the world.
If your thinking about getting a startup off the ground, this is a great chance to hear about some of the challenges and to ask some questions.

Alert (“It’s not just JavaScript”);

Presented by Daniel Weinberger, Product Manager Player Bitmovin
We often think of Javascript as a great way to give your website a bit of “bling”, but there is a lot more to it than that. Javascript is being used more and more by front-end, full stack and even back-end developers and it’s usage is still growing rapidly.
Daniel leads the development of the Bitmovin Adaptive Streaming Player, which is the javascript application responsible for all of the processes involved in presenting a reliable video file to website users on any platform, in any browser. This includes driving the adaption logic and streaming control, API interactions, encryption keys and lots more, which puts Daniel in a great position to discuss some of the less known applications and untapped potential in the javascript language.

The OpenTechTable is a Carinthian based community organisation that helps developers to connect, often through events such as this. Bitmovin is very glad for the opportunity to support such a great event and one so close to home. We hope to see you there.
Register for the event and find out more about the OpenTechTable on their Facebook group.
